Biting
'Know what? My pet rats don't even bite "if provoked, sick, etc."
Even when I'm doing something to them that they don't like -- giving
them injections, 5 minute flea baths, CLIPPING THEIR TEETH! -- they
are still as sweet as sugar!
In general, domesticated rats love us. If you get one from a breeder,
they come ready-to-love. But even in the case of, say Ick!Rat: he was
a feeder, 3 months old, never been handled. He was scared for a week -
- couldn't get him out of the OJ box. Then, he just fell in love with
Mommy.
Yup, I'd say pet rats rarely bite. If you get a frightened one who is
nippy, chances are handling him for a week will bring him along very
very quickly. Somebody back me up on this.
Sandy took a bad bite when her rat's foot got caught, he was screaming
in pain and she grabbed him.
I am taking bites from a severaly abused animal that may also be in
some kind of pain.
But, even with regard to my Wild Rattus girls: my rats are nicer to
people than I am.
